Using mirrors in the interior

In the hands of an interior designer, a mirror turns from a practical object into an impressive accent in a room. It is like a secret weapon that can change the amount of light, create interesting reflections, and create a sense of space. When creating an exclusive interior, it is worth thinking about the possibilities of decorating all the spaces of the house with mirrors. A mirror in the bathroom is a necessity, but why not hang it in the dining room? In the bedroom? Or maybe on the balcony?

Interior accent

If there is no accent in the room that you can turn furniture to, such as a fireplace or TV, a mirror can serve as a great example. Having dedicated an important place in the room to it, it is worth thinking carefully about the design. Classic frames, impressive size or unusual shape can attract the eye no less than a luxurious fireplace or painting. By the way, if there is an interior accent in the room that you want to emphasize, a mirror can complement it, reflect it and, as it were, repeat it a second time in the same space.

More light

If you want to have more natural light in your home space, it is advisable to place a mirror next to a window (or other light source) or at the opposite end of the room. The mirror will reflect the light coming from outside and, as if it were another window, distribute it throughout the room. If there is a dark corner in the room, it is worth considering incorporating a mirror there. By turning the mirror towards the light source, even dark corners will be illuminated. A simple rule of thumb is that the larger the mirror, the more light it will reflect. To create the impression of natural light with the help of a mirror, it is worth considering a mirror that imitates a window with similarly wide frames or a shape that repeats the window.

More space

Mirrors are often used to visually enlarge spaces or divert attention from unwanted details. In spaces with low ceilings, narrow niches and other hard-to-use spaces, hanging a mirror creates the illusion that the space is much larger and cozier. Hotels, restaurants, nightclubs and other entertainment venues often use mirrors to create the feeling that the hall is larger and there are many more people in it than it actually is. Mirrors hung outdoors or on a balcony can visually expand the available patch of nature, “turning” the sun that is facing the opposite direction.
