Wall Moldings – Designer Tips

“A beautiful and harmonious interior is created by details that are invisible at first glance, such as: ceiling moldings, moldings and various other decorative elements designed to decorate walls, ceilings and other surfaces. The range of decors is extremely wide – you can choose moldings that are suitable for a wide variety of interior styles: ornate decor with carvings characteristic of the Baroque style, moldings of smooth and strict shapes will be especially suitable for a minimalist interior style. Moldings, or exclusive ceiling moldings, wall strips, classic baseboards will not only inspire stylistic expressions in homes, but will also be useful in changing the geometry of rooms. With the help of decorative elements, spaces are raised and expanded, and decorative strips of different shapes, ornaments and color gamut zone the rooms.” – designer J. Kazmazovskaya.

Ceiling molding is very often used in the interior, giving the room height and often useful for forming a hidden curtain rod. Using molding creates the illusion of a visually higher ceiling and a more spacious room. Ceiling strips are also an indispensable tool for hiding construction defects (for example, an insufficiently steep angle between the ceiling and walls). What’s more, moldings are increasingly used to form hidden LED lighting. Some more decor details that are gaining increasing demand are decorative ceiling “rosettes” and baseboards. Ceiling “rosettes” not only decorate the ceiling, but also breathe new life into a simple lamp. Meanwhile, baseboards are used to enhance the stylistic expression of the room and change the geometry of the room. Painting the baseboards in the same color as the floor makes the room seem smaller, while the contrasting color of the baseboards, on the contrary, will expand the space and serve as a decorative accent.

Create a beautiful, unique and intriguing environment using your imagination and finishing materials: create a decorative fireplace portal with moldings, “frame” a TV hanging on the wall, decorate window sills and door niches, optically expand the rooms with stylish skirting boards, and enliven the ceiling with decorative rosettes.
