What do the moldings used in the interior say about the hotel?

It can be noted that many hotels are located in the old towns of cities, whose buildings are decorated with various ancient decorative elements reminiscent of the architectural heritage of those times. Therefore, it is natural that hotels located in such buildings strive to maintain the integrity of the style and choose an interior that matches the spirit of that era, filled with ornate moldings. Meanwhile, hotels located further from the city center and other entertainment complexes choose an elegant interior decorated with moldings for a different criterion – in order to reflect services oriented to people with higher incomes.

Hotel lobbies, restaurants are decorated, as well as corridors and grand staircases are not spared from decor. Great attention is also paid to the decoration of rooms, an unwritten rule applies – the lower the class of the room, the less decor it has, so the greatest attention is paid to the highest class rooms, which are equipped with fireplaces decorated with decorative elements, consoles, columns or pilasters are used.

An interior supplemented with decorative details provides the coziness that a hotel guest is looking for. And from a business perspective, using decorative elements can easily and economically create a hotel with exclusivity, a sense of luxury, and add value, resulting in additional returns on investment – this is a tried and tested method in the world.

In the new issue of Structum magazine, we continued the topic of increasing the value of an interior by decorating ceilings and walls with moldings, and how this trend is widely used by hotel, restaurant, and banquet hall designers. Read more here.
