Columns are used in interiors like one of the most expressive design accents. Tall, slender, and graceful columns radiate elegance and visually create the impression of higher ceilings, giving the room more space. At the start of what is now known as the Classical period of architecture, ancient Greek architecture developed into three distinct orders: the Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian orders. Each of the orders displayed distinct features in their columns, a staple for formal, public buildings such as libraries and gymnasiums, stadiums, theaters, and civic buildings. The Corinthian-style capital resembles the shape of a cup – widening towards the top and decorated with two or three rows of acanthus leaves. Column capitals are made of polyurethane, the surface is covered with a hard and impact-resistant outer layer of white primer, perfectly prepared for painting in a color that suits your interior or can be gilded with gold foil. The paints should be water-based.
